There are so many alphabet books out there but this one is charming. My kids like the rhymes and silliness. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the drawings are not as engaging as they could be.

This book-one of my favs-was surprisingly hard to find. I can't understand why it wouldn't be in every library, because the ryhmes and illustrations are just great. Eichenberg uses his crayon-like illustrations to loosen the readers mind and not think of them too much. Because everyone who reads the book knows what the real winner in this book is; the text. A-Ape in a cape B-bear in despair C-Carp with a harp D-Dove in love E-Egret in a minuet(children now may not know what minuet means) F-Fox in a box G-Goat in a boat This is really a must read for anyone who's children have trouble with the alphabet.

On each page, the text follows the same grammatical pattern as the title. This is an easy pattern for students of English as a second language to follow.
