I had high hopes for this book, but I could not even get past the first 35 or so pages. Painful to read - it is like reading a dictionary. Can't tell you if there is god info in there - because I can't bring myself to read it. It actually had phrases like, "It is important when you have a job to give your full effort" and "Quitting a job means that you will no longer be employed there". I mean come on - give me some usefull info. Try "Days in the Lives of Social Workers". Much better book if you are trying to decide if a career in Social Work is right for you.

This book is great for anyone interested in pursuing a career in social work. The author thoroughly explains the different degrees you can get and what you can do with each degree. He gives honest information about salaries, work stressors, and benefits. He is impartial, yet gives adequate personal guidance. I bought the book mainly to learn about the different degrees and types of jobs. For those looking for a job, however, there is a multitude of information on how to get started. For others just starting like myself, this is a must buy!
