Chock full of information and inspired art by many artists. In spite of what others have said, there are some how-tos in it. But if you need more basics, go to Nita Leland's "Creative Collage Techniques" as well as the many books published more recently on collage. This is a reference I'll return to over and over.

Info in this book is phenominal. I tumbled upon this book from a program person at my artists meeting and she highly recommended this book. She being an art major graduate, I instantly took her up on her review and purchased it since I am into collaging myself at the moment. I liked the visual pictures and applications which are so important to learning. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn the art of collaging.

This book is by a respected artist/writer and it shows. Collage has been taken over by crafters (not dissing it, but it's not the same as fine art collage). It is very hard to find a book covering the professional artist and collage. This is it. The examples are excellent. If I had a complaint, it's that there is a strong stress on specific techniques - I'd love to have seen it integrated showing how different approaches can achieve similar results. Also, the end section should be in the front. But those are very minor complaints... overall this book is fantastic and inspirational. I highly recommend it for any fine art collagist.
