This is a great lexical aid for Arabic. As an Arabic instructor myself, I recommend it. We need to understand Egypt the Middle East more thoroughly. I lived in the Mideast. The Mideast is so mystical in our Western eyes. The partnership with the USA literally let the dictators there do as they please. It's been a honeymoon for too long: Time for change and accountability. As a teacher, I searched for information on Egypt, Arab World, Middle East and Islam for my students. In light of the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, my intent as a teacher of ancient cultures has been to illustrate the shared history, cultures, personalities, and beliefs of the three great monotheistic religions. Prior to 9/11, there were no books written for general public. We need to pay attention to Egypt, in particular. "Egypt is the next domino to fall and, as they say, so goes Egypt so goes the Middle East, says Robert Baer, former Middle East-based CIA operative, author of See No Evil and Sleeping with the Devil. One book that I recommend for better understanding of Egypt and the Middle East is THE LAST PHARAOH by Professor Aladdin Elaasar. It demystifies Egypt's Ancient and Modern history and makes a lot of sense of the Mideast. A great combination. The Last Pharaoh: Mubarak and the Uncertain Future of Egypt in the Volatile Mid East

This dictionary is not the best you can get as a beginner of language. It only includes the english-arabic dictionary, and you cannot look up arabic text... you also cannot look up words by the roots. A much better book is Awde & Smith's Arabic practical dictionary (Arabic-English/English-Arabic).

Good dictionary. I had an Egyptian friend look it over and she said it was excellent. The type is very small.
