My sister bought this book for my four year old for Christmas. They tried making the jam cookies, only to have them flatten like pancakes with jam leaking all over the cookie sheets---they couldn't even get the cookies off the sheet to eat them. Today my daughter and I tried the Blueberry Pound Cake; it took more than two hours in the oven before the center of the cake was done (stated baking time was 60-75 minutes). This book is a huge disappointment, especially considering that it's supposed to get kids interested in cooking/baking. I'm guessing the publisher didn't have anyone test the recipes, which is ridiculous.

As the other reviewers stated, there are missing ingredients AND missing instructions in this book. We've tried probably 6 of the recipes and have yet to discover one that is worth repeating - and 3 of them weren't edible. This is NOT the way to encourage young ones to learn to love to cook and bake - nothing like putting in time, effort and ingredients and then not be able to enjoy the results. I purchased mine through the Scholastic book program at my daughter's preschool and would encourage them to get rid of this title. I can only assume the other Strawberry Shortcake cookbooks are equally poor.

Someone needs to go through all the recipes and make sure they are doable and edible. My daughter and I tried a couple of recipes and they didn't come out right. I know other reviews complained about the recipes, so that should clue someone to revise the book to where it's not a disappointment to the kids. It was very discouraging for my daughter.
