ONCE UPON A WEDDING NIGHT With an aging aunt, a father who suffers from dementia and a household to run, Lady Meredith Brookshire is not prepared to give up Oak Run to the new owner, Nicholas Caulfield, the new Lord of Brookshire. Nicholas is equally as unprepared and reluctant to take over his new role as the heir to his father's estate and to take care of his brother's widow, Lady Meredith. He has despised his father and brother all his young life, ever since his heartless father threw him and his mother into the streets and forcing his mother to go into a life of prostitution. Now Nicholas has made a life of his own, by running the most successful game-hell in London. Meredith is shocked to find this hard and cold stranger in her home. Her scheme is to pose as the "pregnant" widow of his late brother - hoping that Nicholas will not throw her and her family out of Oak Run. She finds that under the cold and unfeeling fa??ade lurks a man of tender kindness and one who she finds disturbingly fascinating. As for Nicholas he's grudgingly coming to admire and desire Meredith as they engage in an emotional battle of wills, which leaves Nick feeling unnerved as he cant be desiring his brother's pregnant widow. When her ruse is found out, Nick is furious - and wants nothing to do with the scheming Meredith, he begrudgingly agrees to give her a season in London to find her a husband and get her out of his life. However, he is unprepared to fall under Meredith's spell. In turn, Meredith want nothing to do with the overbearing Nick, even though he is quite disturbing and thwarts her attempts at catching a would be husband at every turn, as Nick is totally unprepared to give her over to another man, even if he has to compromise her first! An utterly divine and marvelous debut novel, Sophie Jordan has created two highly passionate and wonderful people in Nick and Meredith. With wonderful sub-characters - this is a not to be missed read!! Looking forward in reading her works - which have been published and I own, but yet have to read!!

I cannot believe this is Sophie Jordan's debut book...it was wonderful. I totally enjoyed reading it; I read it in one day. I loved the chemistry between the hero and heroine, they sizzled when together. I loved Nic he was a total alpha male without being too cocky, he had a soft heart even though he didn't want to acknowledge it, he was hard without being cruel (that soft heart of his again). Meredith was awesome not wimpy or mushy (even though she had a few insecurities) she gave as good as she got, she stood up to Nic and did not let him push her around; I love their story and again I cannot believe this was SJ's debut novel...truly amazing. The secondary characters are also good without taking over the book, Portia was a stand out for me I loved her, she has her own story in "Too Wicked to Tame" which I am sure most of you already know since my review is years late! :) I recommend this book totally, it was a refreshing read.
