Flash cards are always a good way to help children begin to read. My daughter (5 years old) can already read every card. Not very challenging as there are better sets of flash cards out there.

This doesn't even have all the letters in the alphabet!!!!!! The images stinks, i regret buying this. I only give it a 2 because at least it had some of the letters. I would not recommend these to anyone.

The images on the cards are very appealing to children and offer a clue when they are beginning to learn the sounds. I have a set of similar flashcards made by another brand and my daughter was very bored with them quickly. I had no problem getting her to work with these and after a few times through the deck she had the majority of the consonant sounds memorized. Within a few days she knew them all and I added on the vowels. This deck also offers cards with blends e.g. sh, wh, sw. This is an excellent way to get your child started on the path to reading.
