South Beach is so realisticly told and the emotion is so believable. Basically its about 2 ex-best friends going to South Beach as a last resort because plans with their BFF's didn't work out. And the trip was for the better although they don't realize it until the end of the trip. Every event comes back to haunt them but in a good way. In the end every event changes them into a better stronger person. And its seems like the story was told in more then 7 days. The part is how even though they go through a few major fights and such, and then they get to be good friends but the way it sounds is they don't go back to school as best friends. Just freinds which is better then what they were after they "grew apart". A good summer read. Short and simple.

And women are worried about men when there are terrible books like this around...written by women?! Also: surely these whorish writers are being paid for "product placement" - the books are littered with brand names which by the way will make them seem very dated in a NY minute. Born in 1979 in NYC, the author has a B.A. from Vassar. Depressing. Reading the reviews was equally depressing. Maybe they were written by friends of the author or her family? Ouch, ouch, ouch. I have less and less hope for humanity.

South Beach is about two teenagers Alexandria St. Laurent(Alexa for short) .Alexa, a typical rich teenager, who is very conceited and thinks that every guy is in love with her. She's popular, beautiful, and everyone guy wants her and every girl wants to be her. Holly Jacobson, the quiet and athletic teenager, who isn't exactly in the "in crowd". Alexa and Holly used to be childhood friends, but grew apart when they had hit high school. It wasn't until Alexa had been on her own for spring break that she had decided to reacquaint with Holly. They both decided to go to South Beach, Miami for spring break. They originally were supposed to stay with Holly's funky Grandma Ida. However, they felt like they needed to give grandma ida her space and privacy. So Grandma Ida had hooked them up at the local Motel Flamingo. The girls meet other vacationing teens in the motel, and soon become friends. They go to the clubs, and party and get drunk. Within the story, Holly learns to open up more, breaking out of that shy and conservative girl. She learns to loosen up and not to be as tense. Alexa on the other hand, learns not to judge someone based on there outfit or the clique they hang out with. It is a really good book and the end is really unexpected. I recommend this book to teen girls, who like fashion and teen romance, and drama.
