I purchased this book for my cousin for Christmas, She said she loved the book and can't wait for more to come out in the series!

The It Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar follows Jenny Humphrey, from the popular series and now hit television show on the CW, Gossip Girl. After Jenny's unpopular freshman year at Constance Billiard prep school on the Upper East Side of New York, where she was asked not to return the next school year, Jenny decides to leave her father in New York to go to Waverly Academy, a upstate New York boarding school. After packing her bags, saying her good-byes, boarding her train she arrives at Waverly. Jenny is determined to leave the old Jenny behind and embrace the new Jenny. Luckily Waverly gives Jenny a little help by having her room with two of the most popular and influential girls on campus: Brett and Callie. But Jenny does not exactly come into the new rooming situation on a good note; Brett and Callie are barley speaking to one another after their friend Tinsley's expulsion last year where they both blame the other. Not only does Waverly give Jenny some help but Jenny unknowingly brings along rumors of her past. These rumors get Jenny into a sticky situation when Easy, Callie's boyfriend, is found practically naked on her bed even though Jenny was not doing anything with him, Callie was. Even though Callie was with Easy she talks Jenny into taking the fall for the incident to prevent Waverly from expelling her, but she also convinces Jenny and Easy to flirt with each other to make their story believable. But acting doesn't always stay that way, now does it. Brett also finds herself falling for someone new even though she has a very attractive boyfriend. Little does she know though that her new guy is a rich new teacher at the school, who is a member of the prominent Dalton family. In this story we learn more about Jenny and we see how she goes from an innocent girl to being envied by most. Through Brett and Callie we see how ones actions can ruin a friendship or a relationship. Throughout the book we see how ones actions can impact all aspects of their life. Thought these characters you learn that you have to think before you act otherwise problems are sure to follow. I thought that this was a good book but for all who have already read the Gossip Girl series, also by Cecily von Ziegesar, may be a little disappointed due to the fact that this book does not keep the reader as engaged as the Gossip Girl series. Despite the fact that I was not as impressed by this book as I was by the Gossip Girl series I would recommend this book to any girl who is searching for an engaging easy read book with secrets, lies, rumors, wild parties and everything else that goes along with boarding school.

Her roommates Brett and Callie are the two most popular girls at the school and Jenny is taking the place of their old roommate, Tinsley, who was expelled the year before, for something that a lot of the GOSSIP GIRL characters are caught doing. Brett and Callie don't really care what happens to Jenny, even when she has to go up against the Disciplinary Committee for something she didn't do! See what happens to one of my favorite characters in this spin-off of GOSSIP GIRL, the most fun series around! Once I started this book I couldn't put it down, and you won't be able to, either!
