this is a great book for any horror/ zombie fan out there. it is full of information and makes you feel you are ready for the undead to rise. i only had one problem with this title and that would be the chapter about weapons, which seemed uninformed about the flexability of some of the described weapons. a must have for any fan of the genre!

While this book is generally listed as a "humor" book, it's important to note that the humor doesn't lie in a series of jokes or off kilter dialog but solely in the dry, serious manner in which Mr. Brooks presents his material. While I'm usually not a fan of parody, this form of it kept me turning the page until I was done (at which point I promptly got up and ordered World War Z by the same author which is, if anything, almost a sobering political and interpersonal critique as presented through the context of a zombie apocalypse). I have to admit, I may carry a bias on this subject, ever since I was 7 years old and snuck downstairs to watch "Night of the Living Dead" on television one night (and then promptly ran into my parents room nearly in tears) I've been avidly hooked on zombie movies. I've gone out of my way to watch EVERYTHING zombie related I can get my hands on, from the massive blockbuster hits and artistic masterpieces like Dawn of the Dead and Lucio Fulci's "Zombi" to the most obscure (usually absolutely laughably bad) such as Burial Ground and even books, comics (Walking Dead is brilliant) and other related media. As such, when I read this book it was from the perspective of someone who's been avidly immersed in zombie lore from the time he could first say "they're coming to get you Barbara". I can't say for certain it would hold the same appeal to someone who isn't as into zombie lore as I am. What I can say for certain though is this is an extensively well thought out book detailing every nuance of anything you'd ever need to know to deal effectively, safely and efficiently with an invasion of the living dead. Even if one isn't a zombie fanatic as I am, I honestly can't imagine anyone not being taken aback by the organization, conception, and research that has clearly gone into it's creation. Truly Mr. Brooks, you've offered up a parodic masterpiece in this work, kudo's to you and my most fervent recommendation to anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of leafing through this work.

Ok, i picked this up, being that i'm a big fan of anything zombie, wether it's Resident Evil(the games, not movies, they were ok) or Evil Dead, i first saw this in a magazine where the editor said to pick it up, and i'm glad i did. This book tells you everything on how to survive a zombie attack, what weapons to use(unfortunitly, no Chainsaw arm a'la Evil Dead), where to hide, etc. Not only will this book provide usefull tips, but it will also provide a nice laugh, i cannot recall how many times i've laughed at this book, mostly from remembering what they did MUCH differently in games and movies, i still pick up the book from time to time to flip through it, it's a nice buy, so if you have the chance, i would say to grab it.
