It reviews the stories from a fairly objective view while gathering all of the facts surrouding the legends. Historically accurate and well detailed. Anyone interested in legends of the supernatural would do well to own this book.

I am a third grade teacher and every year the children in my class beg for "scary" stories for read aloud time. Well, this year I did some searching for something beyond Goosebumps and the like (which I find to be rather poor literature) and this book has been a hit! Be warned, however, it will REALLY scare some kids. But on balance, not one regretted me reading some of the stories to them. They all competed to borrow the book from me to read it for themselves. The book consists of about a dozen "true" ghost stories. These are documented stories that leave you to ultimately decide whether you believe them or not. The best is the "Bell Witch."
