VICI is undoubtedly the greatest card game ever!!! Whoever invented it should be recognized by a card game association or someone like that. The game is just brilliant! I'm looking forward to the release of the game's next edition. Will it be available before this summer???

Vici is an excellent game for family night or for more serious players. We play for small stakes but the most fun comes from arguing with your partner over your strategy when the relationships are revealed. Or celebrating your shared genius if you find each other and win! Very poker like with hints of bridge, but I disagree that the rules are complicated. It's actually a very simple game to pick up after a few hands, especially if you're used to playing a lot of different card games.

A few comments on how to make this good game even better. First, the rules indicate a game in comprised of 6 hands, and you settle up after the 6th hand. If you were making a tournament out of it, I can see why. But for casual play, it's easier and more fun to just settle up after every hand. And switching the relationships after every hand can be confusing, so I recommend just sticking with Relationship #1 throughout.Definitely play with poker chips. It's too hard to try to track points on a sheet of paper. And the rules come folded up in the box, which is a little awkward, but if you can make copies or print them from the website you can avoid passing them around constantly when you're learning. Also, 12 might be too young as the low end of the "12 and up" range. It's like teaching a 12-year old to play bridge. Overall, it's a very unique game that still feels like a traditional card game. The box says "Part Poker, Part Rummy, Part Chess", but I'm not sure where the chess comes in. It's more like bridge. Alot of opportunites for creative strategic play. The more you play the more strategies you develop.
