i love shounen-ai and absolute adore ukes, and I just adore Kohaku with all my heart i fell in love with the angel when I read firt volume, but it was shocking for me to realize now how people treat the angel as a "she" i just didn't see the "she" when I read it, and I have always thought Kohaku is a male for sure angels are always male in this kind of clamp's manga, and clamp just love to make implicit shounen-ai like Touya/Yukito, Kamui/Fumma it's such a pitty that people says "her, her, her" i've read lots of yaoi/shounen-ai, and I've read a lot of clamp's works..I can difference the males and the femmales, and when it's shounen-ai and shoujo..and I can asure: if Kohaku had a sex, it would be male/uke it's so easy for people to see something genderless and say "her" i'll just never buy it, cause Kohaku definelly fits more in male yaoi than female..such a pitty that it goes "Her" right at the beggining just looking at the angel, you obviously can see a bishoujo figure: skinny, no hips and a beautiful face..come on..

I enjoyed reading this manga, even though there were problems with the translation of the "male and female" pronouns. Angels are gender neutral in this manga, so I try to ignore the "angel-she...devil-he" stuff, which in its self can be confusing, but beyond that the story of an angel being saved by someone she insists on helping is good stuff, especially when it is always someone being saved by an angel (see Ah my goddess!!!, Angel Sanctuary, DNAngel). Clamp will not let you down with this series. The art work is a little "Rayearth" and the story line gives you a warm fuzzy feeling like Card Captor Sakura. If you like nice storys that does not involve ninjas, pop idols or teenage angst, this is the story for you.

In the beginning of the story, a docter named Shuichiro is coming home from a long day at work. Then he sees what looks like a doll hanging from a tree. The poor doll-like thing is being attacked by a crow, and Shuichiro scares away the crow and gets the thing out of the tree. She sates that she is accually... an angel. Shuichiro has been at work all day, and he had to do an opperation, so he thinks he's either dreaming or hallucinating. But either way, he takes the little angel home. The rest of the story is about their lives between heaven, hell and earth. It's such a good story! This was my second series I ever read and I love it. It's heartwarming, funny, and sad all at the same time, like only CLAMP knows how to do. It's worth it.
