Wyland is so devoted in his work and very ambitious. Truly an amazing man. I have never known of any other artist that can compare to Wyland. He works so hard you think he never sleeps.(Actually he takes a snooze now and then in the car!) This book explains it all. It is half text and half paintings and photos of marine life. It explains his plans and experiences on his travels as throughout the country not only to paint his whaling walls, but also to educated people on keeping the oceans healthy and clean. He educates children and adults with different activities such as "hands-on" like cleaning up the trash on beaches. The book consists of many of his paintings as you read about his journeys, and a section on his sculptures, whaling walls and what he plans to do next. It is a nice book, quite interresting. You feel like you have gone along with Wyland on his trips and have experienced what he has. I have given this book a thumbs up. It's pretty cool.

I am a HUGE Wyland fan so this was one of the best gifts I have ever recieved, besides the one sculpture I have. His artwork is amazing but very expensive. That is why this book is great... for this price you get his stories and breathtaking artwork preserved in a hard-cover, about 180 pg. book. I mean, I have books from when my parents were young (over 40 years ago)... it's the best way to go.

This was a present who had a sculpture of his. The book sits on the table where the sculpture is, and they love it.
