I received this book as a gift, and read it cover to cover in about forty minutes. Then I spent weeks just randomly picking it up and rereading my favorite parts. Every time I read it, I felt like I was taking a refreshing shower, and my worries just would not stay attached to me. A few days ago, a girl asked me what I was reading, and a moment later, the book had become a gift again. I will buy another one, because I need my own, but I suspect I will not hold on to that one for very long, either.

This book is useless. There is nothing to learn from it. It is filled with ambiguity, and there is no way to understand anything in it. Each conversation leads to a futile ending. If you want to become nauseated, have a ball.

This is a beautiful little book. I've read a few Zen books by Japanese, Korean, and American Zen teachers, and I think this book captures the spirit of Zen as much as any book can. It doesn't take long to read, but it shows how Zen can become the practice of a lifetime.
